Congratulations to Mady Van Beek from Weston High School and Alex Phillips from AHS who were sworn in as student advisors to the board at the Aug. 11 School Board Meeting!

It was exciting to participate in Arlington’s National Night Out last night. We had a great time talking with families who stopped by our booth to get back-to-school information!

This summer, 18 high school students are gaining hands-on experience through internships at a variety of local businesses and organizations. Their opportunities are diverse—ranging from learning the work of a lineman and understanding airport operations to collecting environmental data in our local wetlands. Some students are exploring video production, while others are stepping into the daily life of an IT professional.
In addition to building career skills, students are also connecting with their community—working side-by-side with local leaders, learning how to collaborate effectively, and even helping grow fresh food to support local families. By the end of the summer, each intern will walk away with valuable insight into a career path, stronger communication and teamwork skills, a deeper connection to their community, and 0.5 credits toward graduation.
If you are a business wanting to learn more about hosting an intern or a student hoping to gain career knowledge, contact Lisa Rodino, School to Work Coordinator at aci@asd.wednet.edu

Eagle Creek Elementary third graders from Lisa Thompson’s class showed the Arlington School Board last night the literacy quilts they have been working on this school year. Nice job! Special thanks to the community and parent volunteers who helped with this project, and the Arlington Education Foundation who helped to fund it!
